Nagpur Wardhaman Nagar IGNOU opens a new study centre in


NAGPUR: The Indira Gandhi National Open University has established a new study centre at Kaushlyadevi Maheshwari Mahila Mahavidyalaya in Wardhaman Nagar. Regional director P Sivaswaroop inaugurated it on Wednesday along with college principal PB Jain. '

"The IGNOU provides quality education at every doorstep and is also affordable. We have selected Mahila Mahavidyalaya keeping in mind the girl students who cannot travel long distances," said Sivaswaroop.

Before opening a new study centre, a survey was conducted in Wardhaman Nagar and it was found that many housewives, failure cases and dropouts students from economically weaker sections had to discontinue their education owing to various reasons.

The courses that are being offered are Bachelor's Preparatory Programme in English, Hindi and Marathi mediums, Bachelor of Arts in English and Hindi mediums and Bachelor of Commerce in English and Hindi medium. It would also include six Master's Degree Programmes - MA in English and Hindi literature, Sociology, MCom, Certificate of teaching English as a second language and Diploma in creative writing in English. The classes would be conducted on Sundays.
